FORBES

Susan Forbes is a media and crisis communications strategist, with more than 35 years of experience in broadcast journalism and media relations. Her ten-year career as a network television producer at CNN has helped her clients secure media coverage in more than 120 countries since 2002.

INTERNATIONAL MEDIA STRATEGY

Her productions have aired on AP Television News, BBC World Service, CNN, CNN International, CNN en Español, Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation, Middle East Broadcasting, TV Azteca, United Nations Television, and Voice of America, among others. She has served as a senior media relations strategist and producer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), TenCate USA, the office of the U.S. Surgeon General, United Nations Television, World Bank, and World Health Organization.

GOVERNMENT AND NGO

In 2004, Susan Forbes managed multimedia communications projects for the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health at the CDC. In three years, her video productions aired globally in more than 90 countries. In 2004, she managed the media rollout of The Surgeon General’s Report: “The Health Consequences of Smoking,” and created the first-ever, anatomically detailed 3D human body as an online teaching tool for a Surgeon General.

 

One year earlier, she negotiated with media to distribute findings released at a press conference by CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) in Helsinki, Finland. The media partnership reached more than 250 million people in 112 countries. In 2002, her production on smoking cessation received the CDC/ATSDR Community Services Honor Award as a result of its media coverage in more than 68 countries.

TELEVISION PRODUCTION AND NETWORK NEWS

CNN

Prior to serving as a consultant, Susan was a freelance medical and feature news producer at CNN from 1994 to 2003, and a supervising producer at Middle East Broadcasting Centre in London. Her assignments ranged from producing medical and feature news stories, to working on the affiliate desk in the newsroom, and covering breaking news stories for CNN, CNN International, and Headline News. During her assignment at Middle East Broadcasting, she was hired to oversee the daily production of the network’s newscasts.

NBC

In 1996, Susan covered the Summer Olympic Games for NBC stations in Atlanta as a reporter. Prior to working as a broadcast journalist, Susan was a marketing and communications consultant for the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets, and a producer for American Ski Week, a nationally syndicated ski magazine show hosted by former Olympian and World Champion Hank Kashiwa.

AWARDS AND HONORS

A four-time Emmy nominee in the categories of best documentary and magazine program, Susan Forbes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communications, with an emphasis in journalism, from Colorado State University.
